Bye bye toddler bed

Was Christmas really three days ago? I spent the following day with Budah before bringing him to the airport that afternoon to go on a hunting trip with his dad. Less than 24 hours later he shot his first doe. I’m a sissy when it comes to hunting. I can’t quite get past the “poor Bambi” feeling of it all and have never been willing to even try game. In fact when I was Budah’s age I went on a hunting trip with his dad and while shining for rabbits I didn’t hesitate to stomp my foot and scream “run thumper run!” before it got shot. I never went hunting with his dad again, and I think we were both good with that. Knowing what an exciting experience this is for Budah to go hunting and how stoked he was to get that first kill makes me smile. Even when he texted me pictures.

That evening I made it home just in time for a surprise visit for our little ladies from Santa! Buggie’s expression was priceless. She even asked “Santa is here to see me? IN MY HOUSE?” Buggie & Bunny were eager to take pictures and chat with him, Bitty not so much! She is just not a Santa fan this year and that’s okay!

It only took me two days to get this house back in order. I cleaned out the girls closet, their bedroom, and the game room. Out with the old & in with the new. We have boxes to donate and lots to hit the curb on trash day. These monsters are awfully loved and ended up with a whole slew of new things. But they didn’t hesitate to donate a whole slew of things either and that makes this mama proud.

We took Paw-Paw for his first trip to IKEA. Buggie had recently decided she was too big for her toddler bed any longer and wanted a big bed like her sister. So daddy got the fun task of taking the girls two old beds out and putting two new big girl beds in. One with hello kitty & one with Spider-Man. She would normally roam the house and decide where she was going to sleep each night to avoid that toddler bed, she hasn’t left her “big girl/boy bed” (as she calls it) for the last two nights. While she looks itty bitty in it, she sure did have the biggest smile when she climbed in!

This afternoon we finally slowed down and took some time to watch a family movie, “Wizard of Oz”. Funny how you can watch a movie countless times growing up and then watch it as an adult and catch all of the different little things and puns that you were oblivious to as a child.20131228-222252.jpg
