First school dance

Posted on

Tonight our growing way too fast 12 year old went to her first junior high school dance with her best friend. She even wanted me to do her hair for her and let me help her pick out her dress. I’m sure that won’t be the case in the years to come so I’ll cherish these little moments while we have them. Probably the most comical realization as we dropped the girls off was that in that same vehicle was our grandkids watching their aunt go to her first dance. Life really does change so rapidly. When the girls got home I got to see all of their pictures and videos they took. Safe to say they had a lot of fun dancing the night away!

Mama/daughter day with Aub…

Posted on

Last and certainly not least, today was our Mama & Aub day! Aub will be turning 13 this year. She is already so wrapped up in her preteen life and friends that I truly cherish my time alone with her. It’s special time for us to just be and talk about any and everything that’s on her mind. I love that she confides in me and pray she always knows she can. Aub picked Panera Bread for lunch and to see the movie “The Greatest Showman”. I’ve seen more movies this week than I’ve likely watched in six months or longer. Lucky for me I enjoyed all four of the movies and this one was incredible! I quickly realized Aub picked this movie because Zac Effron is in it, well played Aub! I am so proud of the beautiful young lady she is becoming and can’t believe my baby already has a much bigger foot than I do and we can safely say she is now taller than me as well. Slow down little lady, my heart is trying to keep up!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Today we took our children and grandchildren to see Santa at Matt’s work. They had a blast playing in fake snow there. We never imagined just a few hours later they would get to play in real snow. Our children got to help their daddy build a snow lady taller than our eight year old!

“Power mom”

Aub: “Bitty just yelled at me because I didn’t know how old she is.”

Me: “Well maybe you should know how old your little sister is.”

Aub: “You don’t know how old I am.”
Me: “Ummm, 12.”
Aub: “Well when will I turn 13?”
Me: “9 months and 3 weeks”
Aub: “WOW! You are such a power mom! You know know everything, you remember everything, and you have eyes in the back of your head! POWER MOM!”
Side note: I didn’t know I had to actually print the paperwork for first day of school forms to turn in today. I also didn’t remember to buy ink for our printer. I am such a power mom. Now let’s see if she thinks I’m such a cool power mom in say 3 or 4 years, ha ha

And so Junior High begins…

Posted on

Today was prep day for Aub. Junior high already? I swear it was just yesterday our tiny little girl was climbing into a school bus for the first time with a backpack that looked bigger than her and a smile that stretched for miles. Now she’s entering seventh grade, grew into that backpack, same big beautiful smile, and oh so much potential. She is truly becoming an amazing young lady and we are so blessed to be her parents. Now if only I could convince her to slow it down a tad?
